The Mahabodhi Residential School is a CBSE-affiliated high school that thrives within the serene and naturally stunning surroundings of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in Leh, Ladakh. Nestled amidst the majestic snow-capped mountains and far from the hustle and bustle of urban life, our school serves as a nurturing home for hundreds of students from across Ladakh. We pride ourselves on being a unique institution where young monks, nuns, boys, girls, and visually impaired children all receive an inclusive and high-quality education.

Founded in 1992 by the Most Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the school transformed from a barren, desert-like land into a flourishing educational haven. Through continuous dedication and motivation, Mahabodhi Residential School has grown into a vibrant center for holistic learning, where children thrive both academically and personally. Since its inception, the school has been committed to providing quality education to children from Ladakh's remote villages, helping them grow into well-rounded individuals.

Beyond offering standard secular education, the school is devoted to fulfilling its vision and mission of fostering a happy and prosperous society, nation, and world. We do this by nurturing a sense of global responsibility, compassion, and empathy in our students through spiritual and moral education.

Today, Mahabodhi Residential School stands as one of the premier educational institutions in Ladakh, with numerous prestigious awards to its name, including the "I Can Change-Design for Change (DFC) Awards" and recognition in the Guinness World Records. Due to the high demand and the quality of education provided, plans to upgrade the school to higher secondary (10 + 2) are underway.

Guided by the compassionate vision of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the Mahabodhi Education Programme currently supports around a thousand children from over 64 remote villages. Our noble endeavor continues to grow and expand with each passing year, furthering our commitment to creating a brighter future for the children of Ladakh.
